After many years of trying,  the Town of Harwich finally bought the “Downey Property” Abutting Saquatucket Harbor July 29th for $825,000.  The plan below is one version of their intention which is to incorporate it into the Saquatucket Harbor complex.  The property was the site of a very thorough Enviro cleanup which involved so much equipment the locals called it the “Big Dig”. Mobil Exxon finally obtained a report containing the magic phrase “no further action required”.

Harwich is a boater friendly Town with three harbors despite the fact that they have only South Side frontage.  With its own Cruise Line and one of the most lively downtowns on the Cape,  Harwich is thriving.
